FAQs

Q: Does the Hydro-Jetting process use a lot of water?

A: No, the specialized equipment we use leverages High Pressure (1,500psi) Low Volume (1.5gpm) water, and we do not use any chemicals in our cleaning process. In fact, a typical RV shower head uses 1.5gpm of water the same as our Electric Boss Jet Hydro-Jeter. A typical tank cleaning (with no unforeseen issues or blockages) takes approximately 20-30min using about 30-45 gallons of water.

A typical RV owner will flush their holding tank 3-4 times after each dumping using approximately 20-30 gallons of water each time. This can result in water usage upward of 60-120 gallons every time they dump and flush their holding tanks, with very little benefit to the holding tank. With proper Hydro-Jetting to get the holding tanks clean and use of a Probiotic tank treatment we can reduce the amount of water used to flush the holding tanks by up to 50%.

Q: Is the process noisy? Will it disrupt our other guests?

A: No, Happy Tank RV uses an electric Boss Jet Hydro-Jetter that is very quiet, unlike larger gas-powered alternatives. The equipment we leverage is no louder than a vacuum cleaner.

Q: Does the Hydro-Jetting process make a mess or produce offensive odors?

A: No, the specialized equipment and connections that Happy Tank RV leverages keeps all the content being extracted from the holding tanks fully contained with little to no offensive odors. The process produces no more odors than when a tank is being emptied.

Q: When Hydro-Jetting a Black Tank and clearing it from Struvite does all that content enter the facilities infrastructure?

A: Happy Tank RV has customized components (a modified Gate Valve) that allows us to see large pieces of Struvite that is being extracted from the holding tank and blocking it before it enters the parks infrastructure. We use several clear connectors that allow us to visually observe what is passing through the dump port connections. We then can close the collection gate valve that will allow liquids to pass and capture/block the solids into a collection tube, where we then discard the solids into a collection bin for later disposal, or collection as visual samples. The collected solids can then be disposed of as normal solid waste.

Q: Will Hydro-Jetting damage the Sensors in the holding tank or the seals around the gate valves?

A: It is very unlikely that the Hydro-Jetting process will damage the sensors in the holding tank or the seals around the gate valves. In fact, the Hydro-Jetting process is the only way to get the buildup of debris off the sensors and have them operate and read normally. The design of the specialized nozzles we use in the cleaning process pushes the nozzle away from the sides of the tank or pipe it is in and keeps it centered in the space that it is in. This also keeps the nozzle from rubbing on the seals of the gate valves. The illustration below shows this.

It is more likely that other things that RV owners do based on misinformation will cause permanent damage to the sensors and seals. Such as using harsh chemicals to clean the tanks and sensors. The use of such harsh chemicals can corrode the sensors rendering them inoperable. The use of such products can also degrade the gate valve seals causing them to leak.

Additionally, the hose that we use (Dyna-Flex Jetter hose) is flexible and smooth, limiting any potential friction, resistance, or abrasion. The hose is also very thin at only 1/4in in diameter.

Q: Will adding ice to the Black tank help clean the tank when traveling and allowing the ice to slosh and bang around.

A: Putting ice into the holding tank on move days can break the sensors as the ice is banging into the sides of the tank as the RV is traveling down the road. Also, this internet solution and misinformation provides very little benefit as the ice will melt relatively quickly depending on the ambient temperature of the location of the RV in question. It is not recommended to add anything into your holding tanks other than normal waste and proper treatment solutions.
